Background & Research Interests
Dr. Rosemary Marusak is a board certified poultry veterinarian and holds a PhD in inorganic chemistry. She has spent most of her veterinary career in commercial animal agriculture working as a field veterinarian in the turkey and egg layer industries. She has extensive experience in production animal health, welfare, biosecurity, and disease emergency management and uses her academic chemistry expertise to formulate and research new products and applications for animal disease prevention, treatment and welfare management. As a member of the Secure Food Systems team, Dr. Marusak is a Risk Analyst and Researcher leading the Cross Commodity (broiler, turkey and layer stakeholders) and the Secure Finfish workgroups in developing science-based risk assessments and continuity of business permit guidance for poultry and fish product movements during foreign animal disease outbreaks.
