Background & Research Interests

Dr. Ben Blair is a graduate of the college of veterinary medicine at the University of Illinois.  After a short stent in private practice, he returned to academia and completed a Ph.D. with Dr. Jim Lowe focusing on the risk of the cull sow market in the US and the use of data analytics in production medicine. Upon completion he began working with the Secure Foods team at the University of Minnesota, aiding in the stochastic modeling of ASF within and across the US swine industry. He remains active, currently consulting throughout the swine industry, with the goal of fostering the adoption and implementation of technologies and advanced analytical techniques to improve swine health and production.
