Background and Research Interests
Peter joined the Secure Food Systems Team in 2014 as a Research Assistant while earning a M.S. in industrial engineering at the University of Minnesota, staying on as a Research Professional upon completion of this degree. During his time on the Secure Food Systems Team, Peter has worked with Dr. Sasidhar Malladi to provide the quantitative support in the development of proactive risk assessments related to live bird movements during an HPAI outbreak, specifically the movement of live broilers and turkeys to processing. In addition, he has evaluated the role of distance-based spread during the 2015 HPAI EA/AM H5N2 outbreak in Minnesota. Peter’s research interests include the mathematical modeling of infectious diseases, outbreak studies, and risk analysis.
