Background

Kaitlyn recently graduated with her B.S. in Animal Science from the University of Minnesota in 2015. Having a special interest in poultry systems, she has worked two seasons with the University of Minnesota’s Cornercopia Student Organic Farm as a poultry intern. She has worked as a student researcher with UMN Extension conducting research on lean/fat carcass ratios in broiler chickens of two different alternative poultry production systems. Currently, Kaitlyn aids in the creation of risk assessments that are the foundation of the different Secure Poultry Supply plans and is assisting in the further development of Dr. Cardona’s Poultry Disease Planning Tool that aims to help poultry producers and companies understand how to prepare for and navigate HPAI outbreaks.
